Evelyn Lucille

Evelyn Lucille Gwizdala joined our family at 11:44 pm on April 26th. She was due the 24th so she made a late arrival but she was totally worth the wait! I woke up around 3:30 am on the 26th with terrible cramping. I really wasn't convinced that they were contractions since I wasn't sure what they were supposed to feel like. I called the doctor at 5:00 am to see what she thought. She said if you can wait until 8 when the office opens you can come in and we will put you on the monitor or if you can't wait until then, go ahead and go to the hospital. Well, I waited a little longer and they weren't letting up. Jason and I made the decision to go ahead and go the hospital since we live about an hour away and it was about to be rush hour traffic.

When we made it to the hospital, I was 4 cm and 75% effaced! I labored without any pain medication for about 15 hours. When the doctor came in and said, well you are still at 7 cm (after being at that for 4 hours), I was like "give me the epidural!" I got the epidural and just 4 hours later our precious angel was born!

On the day we were to take Evelyn home, she had a large bloody stool so she had to go to the intermediate care unit for a few days to figure out the cause. We were scared to death, but it ended up that she swallowed some of my blood during delivery and just passed it.

We have enjoyed every moment with her this last month! It is amazing how quickly they grow and develop! I am excited for the future with her and Jason and can't imagine life without her!

Life

Well, I guess it is about time for an update! Life has been very busy for Jason and I since we have moved back to Georgia in December. I started a new job in January at the hospital. It really is ideal, I only work 1-2 12 hour shifts a week. It is nice now since I have been busy preparing for Evelyn's arrival and it will be nice after she is born so I will be able to spend 5 days at home with her!

We also moved into our new house in late February! We have been super busy unpacking and trying to get everything organized. Jason did a wonderful job painting Evelyn's nursery and I think I pretty much have everything done and organized in there! I can't believe she will be here in just a few weeks!

Well, until next time!

Georgia on my mind!

Well, we have made it back to Georgia! We packed up our stuff in a big ole U-haul drove it cross country, put all our stuff in storage, flew back to Colorado for our house closing (that didn't happen), drove our other car up to Michigan for Christmas, and then drove back down to Atlanta. Whew! That was a lot of time in the car, 60+ hours to be exact! And let me just tell you it wasn't the most fun experience being pregnant! As for our house in Colorado, we did eventually close on it. The buyers lost their loan financing 2 days before closing. Thankfully they were able to find another lender to give them a loan and were able to close 2 weeks later.

Right now we are living with my parents until we can find a house. We are anxious to find a house and get settled before baby Evelyn arrives in April! I will be working 1-2 days a week at the hospital on a neuro unit. I think this will work out well, especially after the baby arrives.

Baby Evelyn is doing well! We had a repeat ultrasound at 24 weeks because she didn't cooperate well at the first ultrasound :) Everything looked good and she was weighing in at 1 lb 12 ounces!! She is measuring about a week ahead. I can't believe that I will be 25 weeks tomorrow and that means only a short 15 weeks until she is here! I can't wait! :)
